It doesn’t matter what kind of presentation you want to create, the tips I’m going to share with you are useful and it will help you big time.

Presentations can convert exceptionally well or can be ignored with ease by your public. To get outstanding results you don’t need any designer skills or huge experience, you need only to have in mind the following 10 tips.

Before sharing the 10 tips to create a presentation that converts, I want to discuss with you some ideas of how you can implement business presentations in your company and projects.

No matter what profession you have, business presentations will help you convince people buy from you, better understand how stuff works, why a project is important for your company, and so on.

You should use presentations as often as possible.

A doctor will make use of the presentations to help patients understand the medical procedures that will be performed on them, a project manager will present important info and steps, a CEO will show the team what they have to do to reach certain indicators, and a sales person will heavily increase sales.

Even our kids love presentations as they easily learn new things from them.

And don’t forget that presentations transform your image into an expert in your industry. Many times, the image that you have in your buyer’s mind is more important than what you say.

Here are the 10 tips to create a presentation that converts

These 10 tips are lessons that I learned from my experience. Some were hard lessons but from them I learned the most.

You will have a huge advantage by skipping the learning phase and having directly the tips in your mind.

Presentation design

I know that everybody is talking about templates and how cool and fast it is to use them. But if you want a presentation that will rock your audience, you should design your own presentation.

Even with 0 skills and previous experience, it is not that hard.

Create your own presentation design, don’t use what the whole planet is using.

Use paid pictures and icons

Premium pictures and icons cost way less than you think and it will have a huge impact on your design.

Most people are using free stuff, if you will pay a small price, your presentation will look incredibly better and it will be unique.

Link the presentation

The presentation should be linked with your company or brand.

Use the same colors, implement the logo and graphic stuff, and adapt your design.

The 10/20/30 Golden Rule

If you haven’t heard about this rule, you should always it in your mind.

The 10/20/30 Golden Rule means that your presentation should have 10 slides, last no more than 20 minutes, and contain no font smaller than 30 points.

Nobody likes long presentations and people will lose their interest and focus after 10 slides.

Animations are important

Animations are important for both business and personal presentations.

Why?

Because you should not use animations (transitions and effects) in business presentations, while other types of presentations could benefit a lot from animations.

Minimalist design

Make a business presentation that has a minimalist design.

The presentation is just the medium that you use to share information. It should not be complicated and crowded with visuals.

Make it personal

Your business presentation should look like you created it.

Use your words, put an image of yourself, and be creative.

Avoid text-heavy slides

Your presentation should have highlighted and easy to read texts.

Avoid text-heavy slides, if you have long texts, break them as much as possible in small paragraphs.

Presentation mission

Why are you creating the presentation and what should happen after people are seeing it?

You want potential buyers to convert in customers, you want to be seen as an expert in your industry, you want to convince the CEO to handle you the money to create a new business line, or why?

Think carefully about the mission, and craft the presentation adequately.

Write as a copywriter

You know what great copywriters do, right?

They write in such a way that they make us read sentence after sentence until the end, no matter how long the text is. Their text is making us curious and we cannot stop reading the text, so interesting it is.

This is what you should do with your presentation.

Make it so interesting that your audience is drooling to see the next slide.

Conclusions

These 10 tips will help you create a presentation that converts in no time.

The single difficult skill from these 10 tips is the copywriting but you can learn it from books. For this scope, I highly recommend you read this book: The Adweek Copywriting Handbook by Joseph Sugarman. You can thank me later. 🙂
