{"id":75260,"date":"2022-09-09T11:20:08","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T11:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/?p=75260"},"modified":"2022-09-09T11:20:14","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T11:20:14","slug":"a-2022-cv-should-look-and-feel-different","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/a-2022-cv-should-look-and-feel-different\/","title":{"rendered":"A 2022 CV should look and feel different"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everybody knows it, a 2022 CV should look and feel different from how it used to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"A 2022 CV should look and feel different\" class=\"wp-image-75261\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-scaled.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/pexels-andrea-piacquadio-3760072-770x513.jpg 770w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it doesn&#8217;t matter which is your job role or experience, it applies to all of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So why should a CV be different in 2022?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because the whole world changed from all points of view:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; People skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Work experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; What we expect from people we hire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Also, people expect other things from employers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211; Experience is important but in a different way than it was years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is absolutely normal to update our CVs to 2022 and not stick in the past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is what most people do, but we should change that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A creative and a &#8220;better&#8221; CV has much more chances to get analyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, what should you do to craft the &#8220;right&#8221; CV in 2022?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To answer this question, let&#8217;s write down what you should not do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is much easier rather than telling you what to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here we go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Not to do in your 2022 CV<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are my own rules when I craft a CV that works awesome in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These rules are based on my common sense, on my experience, on a few great articles written by top HR people, and last but not least, on discussions I had with friends of mine that work as Head of HR in top companies like Mercedes, HP, PWC, Vodafone, Deloitte, and BMW Motorrad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The first thing<\/strong> I would do is to absolutely forget the classic format of the CV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You want to be as creative as possible without going weird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If I were you, I would include a link in the CV that should open a video of yourself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That would be totally awesome and useful for your chances to get hired.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Never use a template<\/strong>. At least don&#8217;t use it in the standard form, you will have to hire a designer and heavily edit it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Weird<\/strong> <strong>and rare<\/strong> <strong>fonts<\/strong> &#8211; pay huge attention to the fonts you are using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You want the fonts you pick to work with the job role you apply for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the main rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other rule is that you want a font that is 100% easy to read (run away from weird and rare fonts).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you apply for a kindergarten job, you can use a more playful font, while if you apply for an accountant position, you want the fonts to very serious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here a few fonts that I suggest you use for your 2022 CV, if you need serious and safe fonts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/ADBE_Roboto-Black.font\">Roboto<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/ADBE_Calibri-Bold.font\">Calibri<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/FF_Helvetica-Neue.font\">Helvetica Neue<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.whatfontis.com\/FF_Arial.font\">Arial<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use premium fonts too, but don&#8217;t pick complicated or luxury fonts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fonts you pick have a huge role in the overall CV design and feel, and they heavily reflect your personality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Crowd design<\/strong> &#8211; always use a clean and minimalist design<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Too colorful CV<\/strong> &#8211; don&#8217;t use colors if you don&#8217;t know very well what you do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Too large or too small text <\/strong>&#8211; find the middle point between large and small text for your CV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Old photo of you<\/strong> &#8211; People hate when they see a very different person from the CV picture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many people use very old photos in their CV, shocking their interviewers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Important information missing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You want to write all the important info in your CV (email address, phone number, full name, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Too many pages<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You want your CV to be as short as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Too many pictures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Usually, 1 picture of yourself is enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Crafting a 2022 CV is simple and enjoyable, and there is no magic behind the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just be courageous to be creative and different, without exaggerating, and you will do just fine.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Everybody knows it, a 2022 CV should look and feel different from how it used to.
