Here is a super-hot topic in 2021: metaverse<\/a> and the future of fonts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you haven\u2019t heard yet about metaverse is because it is not actually here, yet. But the whole planet is discussing about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Metaverse<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Before getting on the subject, let\u2019s find out everything we know about metaverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is metaverse?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The word metaverse was coined by Neal Stephenson in 1992, in the popular novel \u201cSnow Crash\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meta means beyond, and verse comes from \u201cuniverse\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So metaverse means beyond universe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tech companies say that after the internet, will come metaverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A huge digital environment in which people will interact as avatars, probably using VR glasses but this is not 100% mandatory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metaverse will be a huge transformation of humankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will have the possibility to interact with people from the other part of the Planet, from our apartment, to drive any kind of machines, to do sports, to visit any place from this planet and the universe, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practically, metaverse opens a world without borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metaverse will not be owned by a company, similarly to how nobody owns the internet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But for sure there will be a huge competition between companies that will try to monopolize their \u201ccorners\u201d of metaverse, exactly in the same way companies dominate the online content or industries today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How will metaverse work?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We will use a head-mounted display, like VR glasses, and we will connect to the internet as we do today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is not clear if all VR glasses will work the same and have the same functionalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So basically, we will put our VR glasses on whenever we will want to join the metaverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who are the big players in metaverse?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are quite a few important names developing the metaverse:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Epic Games, Spatial, Snapchat, Magic Leap, and many others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They invested billions of dollars in this technology, and they want metaverse to be fully functional asap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But it is not easy, VR headsets are still expensive and people are still not using them \u2013 just 29 percent of the 169 million gamers in the United States own one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metaverse and the future of fonts<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Metaverse will be like a city, at least in the first part of its existence, which we will explore exactly as we do in video games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And there will be texts and fonts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shops and street signs will stay use fonts, right?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But how will these fonts look like?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will be the same as we know them today, or new fonts will be built specifically for the metaverse?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I believe that the fonts will be created or at least adapted for metaverse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Metaverse will create huge opportunities for all of us:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Architects will design buildings, bridges, roads, factories, etc.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    • Font designers will create fonts.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
      • Advertisers will invent ads for metaverse. This new universe will be populated at one point with billions of people.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
        • For sure there will be shops of all kinds \u2013 clothes, cars, accessories, skins, and so on.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Conclusions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

          The new Matrix movie is coming on 15th<\/sup> December and now it is not so much of a science fiction movie, as it was back in 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Now metaverse is on the table, and it looks very similar with Matrix movie concept in which characters were using a device to connect to the digital universe named matrix. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

          There they could learn new skills, and do pretty much anything they would want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          What happened in the matrix, was affecting the characters in real life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
