Even now, during as we speak, restaurants aren&#8217;t in their best shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the lockdown period, restaurants that were in open air get permission to operate again. That was useful but even so, people were not &#8220;running&#8221; to eat outside their homes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So everybody expected that after a long period of being blocked in the house, people will use restaurants just like before. And how wrong they were.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They didn\u2019t. People are afraid of Covid-19 and changed lots of their habits, including the habit to eat at a restaurant. In addition to this, some people went broke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although it was extremely difficult, some restaurants adapted to the new economical context and even increased their sales. Interesting, isn\u2019t it? How they did it? Find out below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Menu engineering<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Menu engineering is a field of study fully devoted to the construction of restaurant\u2019s menu. Therefore you will produce higher overall profits.  <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dogs \u2013 Best is to get rid of these menu items. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Menu Design<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The menu design will be based on the 4 quadrants that we discussed about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are some common and best practices:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Highlight your stars (a box design can do wonders).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Don\u2019t list your prices in a column down the right side of your menu.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is the number-one problem I see with restaurant menus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Placing your prices in a column causes customers to focus on price, not your food, and could lead them to choose the cheapest item in the column.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avoid using a dollar sign or the word \u201cdollar\u201d next to the price, as that causes customers to think about money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Use menu item description \u2013 This is mandatory for expensive items.
